emeraldperil: This looked like a great place for a cache and in many ways, I've been happy with it, unfortunately the cache has gone missing too many times for my liking and looks like some individuals are using it for a drinking spot. So in light of this I'm going to close the cache.

Geocache Description:

Located in a Calgary off-leash dog park. The cache should be easily accessible by everyone including strollers and wheelchairs. Short walk from parking.

Please re-hide well and make sure it cannot be seen from any near bypaths.

Small sized lock and lock container. Includes items for trading. There is an emerald trackable geogem for the first to find. - Congratulations Geocacher Wannabe for being the FTF!

Unless you are looking for a climb I would recommend parking on the North side. It is accessible via the c-train but the terrain rating would definitely be higher.

Great lookout point over the city and downtown. Also has some interpretive signs about the park area.

Tom Campbell's Hill

Until the mid-1900s a huge billboard saying "Tom Campbell's Hats" stood on this hill. In the 1910 boom the area was subdivided into residential lots, but much of this became city property again because of tax arrears during the 1920s. Livestock grazed in this area until 1939. From the 1950s to 1985 the zoo used the hill as a paddock for zebras, camels and other hoofed animals. In 1992 the area was designated as parkland after the Bridgeland/Riverside Community Association campaigned against proposed hotel and townhouse development.
