Ghost Stories- Tilly Willy

The Ghost Stories caches are intended to bring you to some not so
frequently visited places in our area and learn of some of the
legends involving the area. If you know of any good ghost stories
maybe they would make good cache hides, as well. These containers
are all small and intended to be easy finds. We hope you enjoy your
self and don’t get too spooked out. (Lil’ KM99 came along to place
these caches and she only ran off screaming once)

This story about Tilly Willy ran in the Northwest Arkansas Times.
"Like the ghosts that supposedly
haunt it, Tilly Willy bridge is shrouded in mystery. Unlike other
bridges in Washington County, there is no plaque at the entrance
displaying its name and the year it was built... While very little
historical information exists about the bridge, locals know it
well. It was a popular gathering spot for high school and college
students at one time and then, with the stories of hauntings, it
became a spot for the curious and the brave to try to catch a
glimpse of a ghost. There are a couple of legends surrounding the
bridge. In one, a man and his family were crossing the bridge in
the 1950 s. A crying baby distracted the man and he drove the car
off the bridge into the river below. People have claimed to see the
phantom car's headlights at night. The second story is of a mother
and two children crossing the bridge in the 1970 s. It was a rainy
night and the women reportedly lost control of the car and it
plunged into the murky water below. The woman is said to be seen
twirling in nearby fields in a white dress." The cache is not
hidden on the bridge ( we wouldn't want you to be the next ghost
story). Watch for muggles and maybe you can catch a glimps of the
lady in the field. You will not have to cross the fence to reach
the cache.
A lot of time, effort, and money go into getting and placing caches such as this one. The only reward we get form such hides are the logs written by the finder of the cache. Keep in mind that the owner of the cache has every right to take away the find if the owner feels that the logs are not up to the standards of the cache. As of 11-09-08 we will be enforcing this right.
