Parking can be found near the starting co-ordinates. I would recommend that you leave your car there while completing the cache and would also recommend the nearby pub for a drink or something to eat once you've completed your walk.
The first stage of the cache is at the co-ordinates above. Originally there was an information board regarding a mid air crash over Mears Ashby that happened in March 1943. This was removed for some time so a nearby bench was used for the required info. The bench then changed, but the information board is back(!) so once again you need to look at the information board for the following information to help you work out the co-ordinates for the second stage:-
- the identification number for Two Beauts = 42-ABCDE
- the total number of detonated bombs = F
- the total capacity of the fuel tanks within the wing section (in US gallons) = GHIJ
Using the numbers collected work out the co-ordinates for stage 2:-
N52.17.(A+F)(B)(D+G) W000.46.(E)(F+H)(I)
At the second stage you will find a manhole cover. Not far away you will see a pond which is reputedly where the last witch dunking in England took place. On the manhole cover you will find 2 lines of writing. The second line is the name of a place, 9 letters long. Convert to numbers (A=1, B=2, C=3 etc..) to give KLMNOPQRS.
The coordinates for the final cache are:-
N52.17.(K-L)(O)(R-O-Q) W000.46.(Q)(N-R)(N-M)
There are 2 routes to the final cache, one follows an official footpath across a field, the other is frequently used by dogwalkers and follows a nearby hedgerow.
You are looking for a small cylindrical container. Please be careful of little cachers at the final location as there is water nearby.
