Geocache Description:


Mercury is very similar to our moon. It has little atmosphere so the temperature can change more than 1000 degrees between day and night. You'd think Mercury would be the hottest planet since it is the closest planet to the sun which looks three times larger than on Earth. The temperature on Mercury still gets up to 870 degrees, but Venus gets even hotter because of its thick clouds. It also takes Mercury only 88 days to orbit the sun since it is closer than other planets and moves at 104,000 miles per hour.
