Dwarves live in the mountains and live in caves, mines, and other deep places. They love the search of underground wealth. So be on the lookout for their caches in rocky places. These are the favorites of the dwarves.

Durin name is one of many dwarfs, and many great ones carried that name:

Durin I : King Durin I of Khazad-dûm, better known as Durin the Deathless, was the eldest of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves.

Durin III : Durin III was the first bearer of one of the Seven Rings, although this was not known to outsiders until the end of the Third Age.

Durin IV : Durin IV was the king who led the Dwarves from Khazad-dûm to fight against Sauron with the Last Alliance at the end of the Second Age.

Durin V : Was King of the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm in the Third Age, when their deep mining for mithril under Caradhras aroused a Balrog from its hiding place in the depths. The creature killed Durin, and became known as Durin's Bane. He was succeeded by his son, Náin I, who was killed by the Balrog in the following year, after which the ancient city was abandoned by its people.

Durin VII : He led Durin's Folk back to recolonize Khazad-dûm some (unspecified) time after the beginning of the Fourth Age, where they remained "until the world grew old and the Dwarves failed and the days of Durin's race were ended".

Dwarves in Tolkien are long-lived, living nearly four times the age of man (about 250 years), but are not prolific breeders, having children rarely and spaced far apart, and having few women among them. Dwarvish children are cherished by their parents, and are defended at all costs from their traditional enemies, such as Orcs. A longstanding enmity between normal Dwarves and Elves is also a staple of the racial conception.
