Geocache Description:

A short half mile hike to an excellent view of the Lake Thurmond area. (The view is best when the lake water lever is higher. Continuing on the trail after finding the cache leads to the Lake Springs recreational area. The hike isn't too bad although I recommend bringing water on hot days and wearing long pants. Climbing over fallen trees is always a possibility.

Warning - A Corps of Engineers sign on the trail to the cache stating that safety orange clothing should be worn October through January because of hunters. This is a fairly simple cache to find. The name of the cache gives you a clue to help you find your way. The clue will become apparent once you are on the trail. The trail markers in this area of the lake have all been upgraded. The cache is now an ammo box. The simple plastic containers have degraded very quickly over the years. A good location to park is N 33° 39.430' and W 082° 14.251', although you would be wise to not block the gate. Park across the road from the gate in the parking area. There are primitive restrooms at the parking location.
