Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the above coordinates but it is the suggested parking area. In order to find the correct coordinates you must solve the puzzle below.

This is the final cache in a 4-part series. In order to solve this puzzle you must first find the preceding 3 caches in the series and write down the 3-part code inside the front cover of each log book.

This cache is placed in honor of one of the greatest young-adult book series of all time, the Harry Potter series by author J.K. Rowling. This book series is also responsible for giving geocaching the term "muggle." Everyone in my family is a fan of the Harry Potter books and movies and we all lent a hand in creating and placing these caches.

Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has four houses to which a young witch or wizard attending the school can be assigned. Each cache in this series represents one of those four houses. This is a magic-themed cache that should be fun for the entire family, especially Harry Potter fans.

To get to this cache, take I-10 to NM-404 and head east. After about 1.6 miles, pull over and park on the south side of the road near the given coordinates. Then walk down the concrete edge of the drainage pipe toward an opening in the gate. Solving the puzzle will give you the coordinates to stage 1. Stage 1 will give you the coordinates to the final stage. The total hike will be around .6 mile round trip. Good luck and have fun.

The Puzzle

The following list contains definitions of common spells, curses, and charms found throughout the Harry Potter books. Match the letter of each definition to the correct incantation in the coordinates below. Then match that letter to the numbers collected from the prededing 3 caches, then do the math. (NOTE: The parenthesis do not indicate multiplication. They are just used as separators.)

Definitions of common spells, curses, and charms

A - Makes an object repel water
B - Knocks out opponent
C - Summons an object
D - Disarms your opponent
E - Tortures opponent
F - Erases memories
G - Controls a person
H - Opens locked objects
