p>This is another in a series of
caches that I am planning to use to bring you to interesting
locations around town. All of these caches are the little,
tiny, sub-micro caches that attach with a magnet, so keep that in
mind as you are hunting.
This is the Menil Collection. I will allow Google to do
the job of acquainting you with the history and general run down of
the Collection. This is the western end of a neighborhood that I
have always loved. There is quite a park like atmosphere but there
is also quite a lot to do right around the area. If you have
never been to the Menil collection, plan on spending a few hours
looking through. Even if you are not a great lover of art, the
museum has a permanent display of quite a few historical artifacts
and the building itself is well worth the time it takes to walk
through it. Don't miss the yard art on the north side of the
building. You'll see what I mean when you get there.
You can check the web site above for official opening and
closing times and I highly recommend that you go at a time when
both the Menil Collection and the nearby Rothko Chapel are open.
Also, don't miss the Cy Twombly gallery. I don't care much for the
art there but the building is absolutely sublime art space.
For the cache you may need a little help. If you are standing
facing the magnolia tree, you should be looking down the long
corridor of the gallery. Look at the white metal pillar on the
right hand corner and then read the hint below.
