Located at the Jefferson Co. Historical Museum in Steubenville OH.
Best during daylight hours. Muggles across the street can be
ignored.
Inside is a disposable camera, please take your picture here and we
will post on listing when developed. In the Fall of 1973, several
Steubenville residents who had a common interest in the history of
Jefferson County, began meeting with the intent of forming an
organization for the purpose of, preserving, protecting and
promoting the historical records and artifacts of Jefferson County
and of it's communities. In 1976 the new historical organization
purchased the Sharpe Mansion at the corners of Fifth and Franklin
Avenues. The brick house is an outstanding example of English Tudor
design, having 19 rooms on three floors. The building cost $35,000
to construct in 1919. The first floor rooms are designed with oak
paneled walls and large fireplaces. Stained glass windows above the
carved staircase enhance the large entry hall. The various rooms
contain period furniture and artifacts which have been donated by
county residents. The Vivian Snyder Genealogical Library is open
April through November, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday through
Friday. The Museum Mansion is only open by reservation and you may
