This is an easy 2 stage that ends in a breathtaking 360 view. Total walking distance for both stages from the suggested parking area is approximately 1.5 miles round trip.
This cache will take you to the summit of Hotchkiss Hill at 2341 feet in elevation. Some consider this to be a mountain rather than just a hill, I'll let you be the judge of that. This is one of the highest summits in this area and has an amazing view from the top. I rated the cache as a 2.5 for terrain because the walk to the cache is mainly up hill. Of course, the way down the hill is a breeze!
The cache is an ammo box hidden in full camo. The cache has 2 starbucks gift cards for FTF(One card has $5 and the other I think has around $1). The cache is well stocked with items that all age groups should enjoy.
This cache also contains a camera which you can use to snap a picture of yourself or your group. This is a great spot to take a picture, the view is just amazing. Just remember to put the camera back in the cache when you're done. When the film is used up I'll post the pictures on the cache page. Of course, taking your picture is not a requirement for this cache, just something we thought would be fun.
This is a two stage cache. The first stage is a Triangulation Station disc located at N 39° 00.382 W 120° 58.672. The disc is embedded at the top of a large rock.
Once you have found the disc fill in the blanks below with the LAST TWO numbers of the year from the marker’s date.

From the date on the marker, add 48 to the FIRST TWO numbers of the year and fill in the blanks below
W120 58.__ __7’
That will give you the coordinates you need for the last stage of the cache. Hopefully you'll have time to hang out and enjoy the view for awhile. We hope you enjoy coming to this spot as much as we have!
