Rocky Park Exit off I-17 South of Flagstaff and just north of the Verde Valley. Cache is less than 1/4 mile from the freeway.
A "Weir" is a water dam. The United States Geological Survey mandated watershed studies to measure runoff and try different forestry measures out to examine their effect on drainages. There is a lot of information on this subject on the internet if you are interested. At these coordinates you'll find a Weir and Water Gaging Station. This particular one is interesting and I think an ideal place for a cache. Park at or near 34.51.222 - 111.36.325 and you'll be looking towards the cache when you pull in. This parking spot is only 0.14 mile from the cache and there is a developed trail that leads to the Gaging Station and to within about 60' of the cache. The trail is vague so look closely for it. I piled some rocks up at the edge of the little road near the parking spot to mark the beginning of the trail. Trees and the small canyon interfer with your GPS at this location so be patient and give your unit a few minutes to zero in. I had 10' accuracy when I placed the cache. You're looking for a well hid large container. The gate at the turnoff is closed during wet weather, but it is a short walk from the highway. If there is snow on the ground, the cache will be impossible to find, so don't waste time walking in there. (No snow there now: April 11th). THE CACHE HAS EVERYTHING GOING FOR IT TO BE A FAVORITE - GREAT LOCATION, LARGE CONTAINER, NOT TO FAR, NOT HARD TO FIND, HISTORY LESSON, and of course... TOTALLY FUN!
