Geocache Description:

The wheelchair accessible Lowell Riverfront Trail, along the south shore of the Snohomish River, is a 1.75-mile, multi-use trail featuring a 10-foot-wide paved path that includes views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier with the Cascades between, as well as numerous wildlife habitats. It’s located in the Lowell neighborhood of Everett, an old mill town, where the river takes a sharp bend. The trailhead is located just off Lenora Street. The original lumber mill, once located near the riverfront trail's parking lot, was demolished long ago, but remnants of old pilings give testimony to historic waterfront development

During the 1980s, members of the Everett Rotary Club donated money and cleared out tons of debris that had accumulated over the decades. In recognition of that work, the park to the east is Rotary Park, and is accessible via this trail, as well as by car. Rotary Park is a popular hot spot for birding, with cormorants and ducks on the river, owls near the barn on the far side of the river, and eagles and hawks scanning the various habitats for prey.

This enjoyable trail is accessible year round, and is a popular place for dog owners, although leash and scoop laws are in effect. There are portable toilet facilities at the trail head, with picnic tables here and there. Rotary Park has improved facilities and a boat launch if you'd care to go fishing.

About the cache:
  • You are looking for a small lock 'n' lock.
  • Although the paved trail is suitable for wheelchairs, this cache is not.
  • Unless there is extreme flooding, you should not have to wade for this cache. If there is extreme flooding, you should not be there, and the cache will most likely be gone.
  • If you are allergic to pollen, I would suggest you stay away when the nearby scotch broom blooms. **Achoo!**

Finally, please let me know if there are problems with either the cache or coordinates. Most importantly, have fun!
