This is one of the first geocaches in Kitsap County and it was created by Dick, W7WT. |
A nice easy cache in a small lovely park located on the East side of
Bremerton, WA., at the intersection of Sylvan Way & Olympus Drive. |
GREAT FOR FIRST TIMERS!
As you travel from West to East through Bremerton, you will be crossing the Warren Avenue Bridge. Continue Northward on Wheaton Way and turn Eastward onto Sylvan Way and go to the top of the hill.
Bataan Park is diagonally across from the Water Tower. On Sylvan Way, just before Olympus Drive and the Bataan Park sign, turn right into a gravel alley to a parking area located below the park.
BTW, from the top of the park you can see Sinclair Inlet and Seattle to the East, as well as the City of Bremerton and Olympic Mountains to the West.
If it's a nice sunny day, take the wife, the kids, the dog and a picnic lunch, and sit at the covered table and enjoy the view of the Olympic Mountains. |
Bataan, is a province of the Philippines occupying the whole portion of Bataan Peninsula on Luzon. The province is part of the Central Luzon region. The capital of Bataan is Balanga City and it is bordered by the provinces of Zambales and Pampanga to the north. The peninsula faces the South China Sea to the west and Subic Bay to the north-west, and encloses Manila Bay to the east.
The Battle of Bataan is famous in history as one of the last stands of American and Filipino soldiers before they were overwhelmed by the Japanese forces in World War II. The Bataan Death March was named for this province, where the infamous march started.
