WHAT??!! A cache hide in the North Hills that DOESN'T require a hike? It's less than 100 feet from the road, but you will need a high clearance vehicle to get that close.
We were out picking up a few of the caches in the north hills area when I decided to test out my new 4x4 on one of the roads we hadn't been on before. There are two awesome views of the Helena Valley along this road that I thought other cachers would enjoy, but I couldn't choose which one to hide a cache at, so I hid it between them!
The road is a two-track 4x4 road that is in pretty good shape, but appears it can get muddy in places. It is marked with a designated route arrow so motorized vehicles can travel it.
At the crest of a hill there is a great view of the North Valley. A bit farther is the cache hidden in the trees. After finding the cache, keep going along the road until you see a "Y" in the road. The right branch takes you up a tiny hill for a great view of the East/South valley. The left branch dead-ends not too much farther at a private property gate with plenty of turn around space. (Good to know if you have a full size truck!)
The cache is a small lock-n-lock container. Please be sure to wedge it back into its hiding place, then hide with natural camo!
