Geocache Description:

Number five in the series of caches highlighting Volcan Mountain.

Rising over 5,000 feet and covering more than 25,000 acres, this majestic 15 mile ridge lies in the heart of San Diego County's back-country, stretching from Lake Henshaw to the Anza Borrego Desert with the historic town of Julian at its feet. Volcan Mountain is a vital link in a chain of protected land. It supports a unique ecosystem reflecting a great diversity of vegetation and wildlife, which has remained virtually undisturbed.

This cache, on Farmer Road, about 1.5 miles North of the town of Julian, is situated in a spot that gives a magnificent view of Volcan Mountain (see picture). The cache is small, a medium size pill bottle, but well hidden. Some stealth is required, due to the fact that it's alongside the road to Menghini Winery. Watch for cars.

The contents at the time of placing the cache are:
1. A log and a small pen.
2. Several collectible lapel pins.
3. A silver gecko charm (from Team Gecko).
4. A combination emergency light, compass, whistle, key chain.
5. Business card for my B&B good for 20% off.

Parking is available about 100' south of the cache. A waypoint has been given for the parking spot.
