Permission from the owner is not needed. This is the Mudbug Hole. You may see me working in the back yard, particually on weekends. I may wave at you, but I will not bother you when you check into the cache in the front. But I'd love to meet you, just the same, if you have the time.
Schriever is a populated (community?) place located in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. The elevation is 13 feet.
Schriever had a population of 5,880 with 2,127 housing units; a land area land area of 14.37 sq. miles; a water area of 0.06 sq. miles; and a population density of 409.32 people per sq. mile for Census 2000. Updated Census Estimates for all incorporated places in Louisiana.
What all this says is that we are a small cajun community just south of Thibodaux, La.
Sugar cane was the primary crop and income opportunity for the locals through most of the 1900's. Today, sugar cane is mostly left to the mega-farmers. The little guy has generally found lots of other things to do.
The offshore oilfield and all of the services companies that support the oilfield employs the majority of folks, if they're not involved in public service jobs, such as teaching, law enforcement, grocery, hardware store, etc.
This cache is on a piece of private owned property that was once a small sugarcane farm. The house and others nearby were originally built under a government program that helped new farmers get a start in the industry. If qualified, the farm family was given an 4 room house, barn, and about 40 acres of property behind each home.
Today, the area is being developed into subdivisions of the Houma and Thibodaux, Louisiana areas.
