This cache is placed at the top of what I believe to be the highest
hill on this peninsula. At about 361' above sea level, you're 145'
above the normal lake level when standing at the cache site.
Although the lake shore is only about 1/10 of a mile away, you
can't see much of the lake due to the trees.
If you come by water (across from Horseshoe Island), you'll only
have a couple hundred yards to walk, but with a 145' elevation
gain. If you come by land, it's about 1.65 miles by air from the
nearest parking area (see
the Three's Company cache listing for access/parking
information) - mostly on an old road bed, but there's a stretch
that requires some relatively easy bushwhacking. There are only
moderate ups and downs along the way - the 3 terrain rating is
purely due to distance.
** CAUTION ** This cache is on gamelands. Please take
appropriate precautions (e.g. wearing blaze orange) during hunting
season.
