This is one of 10 caches that sub32 and I hid today in this area
(in addition to two we already had here). If you're up for a little
over 3 miles of fairly easy hiking, you can get them all.
To get to the area, take Seaforth Road until just before it
ends. Turn left into a single-lane gravel road just before the last
house. (It might look like a driveway, but it's actually a road
into the public gamelands.) This is a pretty good quality road that
any car should be able to handle. There are a few (avoidable) dips,
so you do need to watch closely and drive slowly. The gravel road
ends in a cul-de-sac at N 35 42.110 W 79 04.156 which is where you
should park.
From the parking area, it's about a half-mile stroll down an old
road bed and then a trail to the cache area. If you'd rather
approach by boat/canoe/kayak, the cache is only about 100' from the
shoreline at normal lake level.
The ground level at the cache site is about 220' above sea
level, so if the lake level is higher than 220.0, you'll probably
have to wade to this one. (Click here for today's
report)
** CAUTION ** This cache is on gamelands. Please take
appropriate precautions (e.g. wearing blaze orange) during hunting
season.
