The walking tracks are well marked, but shorter walks are enjoyable up to the shelter area, which is the junction of the three marked tracks. This is a great area for a picnic.
The marked track times are: (and return times)
- Totara Loop Track - Moderate 1 hour
- Matai Loop Track - Steep 2 hours
- Mt Clyde Trig Track - Steep, exposed 2 hours.
Take a short walk to the shelter from the carpark and take the Mt Clyde trig track. The cache is near the flat rocks.
TAKE CARE - Rewanui has infestations of Onga onga, or urtica
ferox around the edges of the bush. It is a shrub which can grow up to 2 metres tall, and is copiously covered in stinging hairs. The effect of the sting of this plant may last for several days!
The cache is a sistema container, contains logbook, pencil, and usual small trade items.
