Geocache Description:

A small, easy to find cache hidden beside Langley Chapel, near Acton Burnell in Shropshire.

Langley Chapel, standing alone in open countryside, is all that remains of the manor house of Langley. The chapel in its present form was built in about 1564 and the internal furnishings date back to the early 1600s. Since the chapel fell into disuse the furnishings were never updated as they were in other churches, and so it has survived as a rare example of a small Puritan country church from in the early 17th century.

The chapel was restored in 1900 and was one of the first to be taken into the care of the state, back in 1914. It is now looked after by English Heritage. The chapel is open from 1st March through to 31st October from 10 until 5 but is closed for the rest of the year.

It is possible to park next to the gate to the chapel. After you have found the cache please be careful to rehide it so that it is completely hidden from view. Many thanks to the Bolas Heathens for making the original cache available via their Cache Dispenser; after long service that box has now been replaced.

Whilst you are here, we recommend that you take a look at "Walking on Water" (GCZ6TV), a fab 2-stage multicache which requires a visit to Langley Chapel and also to Acton Burnell nearby. Thanks to the owner, Splowe, for letting us know about this :-)
