Alabaster: The recent controlled burn at Draper Lake has claimed another victim. A friend and I went out to check on it this morning and found a scorched landscape. The tree this cache used to sit in is nothing but a blackened skeleton now, and although the large ammo box should have still been sitting beneath it, it appears that someone has taken it. There's no remains of the metal box of any kind, so I'm assuming someone saw the box beneath the blackened tree and took it. Any contents would have been baked in the fire, but the box itself could probably have been reused somehow.

Since the trees and underbrush in the vicinity have been burned out, there's no reason to replace this one with a new one, so Okami's Doggone Cache is being shut down. Thanks to all who have come out looking for this one. Good night.

Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed in honor of my canine best friend who is now gleefully roaming the hills of Heaven. Okami was a gentle Siberian Husky who passed away October 17, 2007, just two months shy of his 10th birthday. He loved exploring new lands, so he should be an appropriate spirit to watch over this geocache. Feel free to bring your own furry friend along.

You are looking for an ammo box hidden on a peninsula of Lake Stanley Draper. Easy parking nearby, but you'll have to do some light bushwacking to get to the container. Cache contents were originally pet-themed, but you may now consider it open for any tradable swag.

The dirt lake roads can get slickery if it has rained recently, but a family car should be able to reach this place on dry days. If you have your Oklahoma fishing license, you can try to catch a few fish off the point while you're there.
