Geocache Description:

“OHIO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Ohio Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by Buckeye Pioneers. This series is inspired by and a continuation of the Indiana Spirit Quest caches created by Six Dog Team. In just over three years, the SPIRIT QUEST has grown to over 550 caches, with the hiding teams growing as well. The Ohio Spirit Quest has begun to grow with twenty eight current hides in one Northwest Ohio county, with five current caching teams, four each with A Man and His Dog... and one with A Woman and her Dog. Over 1,000 cachers have logged over 20,000 finds. One cache machine found 111 ISQ caches in a single day (daylight hours only). PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF POSTED CEMETERY HOURS, TYPICALLY DAWN TO DUSK. ANY FIND LOGS INDICATING NIGHT CACHING WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE.

Come with us now for a virtual tour of this old burial ground via this page, then go out and find the cache!

OHIO SPIRIT QUEST #028
”Regality Rules"

This is our twenty eighth hide across the border in Ohio. Listen to what TMA has to say:

Welcome to King Cemetery, York Township, Fulton County, Ohio.

This is a very small cemetery, tucked off of Highway 109, just south of Delta, Ohio.

John King of Ireland purchased acreage south of the present day Delta in 1834. The King family settled on the land in 1835 and by 1839, possibly earlier, they set aside a small plot to be used as a burial ground. The King farm served as a stop on the underground railroad for several years. In 1984 the cemetery was found in very poor condition, with some unmarked graves.

This cemetery is quite a gem, so far off the road that many may drive right past. Most of the headstones are lying flat, and are hard to read. However, it is a very peaceful resting place.

The cache container is a camo'd small lok 'n' lok. -- Pencil provided. You must park across the street here, at the American Legion Post. It is located at N41 33.548 W084 00.098. You will be crossing a HIGHWAY, so look both ways. If you find a fallen US flag, please stick it back in the ground. As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out. Pray for our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, CoastGuardsmen and Airmen in harm's way. All photos by -Eleanor-.
