Blazen & Family's Lapeer Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-Rusty-: Hello,

Unfortunately the DNR has just communicated to us that geocaches placed in State Game or State Wildlife areas are unauthorized as of April 16, 2003. We are no longer approving caches placed on these lands in Michigan. A letter delivered to the Michigan Geocaching Organization on April 17, 2003 states:
… caches already placed on these lands should be archived immediately.

We have reviewed the location of this geocache and it appears to be located in the following State Game or State Wildlife area:
Lapeer State Game Area

If the geocache is not actually in this State Game or State Wildlife area, please email me via my profile and I will un-archive your geocache. If you would like to move this cache out of the State Game or State Wildlife area and contact me, I'd be happy to reconsider it for un-archiving at that time.

State Recreation and State Parks areas are still open to caching and not affected by this directive. Thanks for your understanding.

NOTE: Do not reply to this email directly. The communication will not be received. To ensure a prompt response, please follow the method of contact described above.

Geocache Description:

This involves some driving and walking / hiking. The terrain is trails / hills / and an occasional mud puddle in the Lapeer State Game area. July 29, 2002 Multi-cache revised to just the final cache. First two clues to final were destroyed and I haven't had time to go out and replace them. Enjoy.

This cache is stored in a traditional dark green metal ammo box with black tape striped about. It's contents include:
  1. Teenie Beenie "Freckles the Leopard"
  2. Book "The Diamond Throne" by David Eddings
  3. A strange looking petosky stone.
  4. A nice chunk of Amythyst.
  5. McD's French Fry Phone
  6. CD-ROM Game Heavy Gear II
  7. CD-ROM Game Al Unser Jr. Arcade Racing
  8. Stickers
  9. Ruler / Stencil
  10. Metal Mouse w/ Cheese figure (transfered from Sittaro's Swampy Stash, Lakeville, MI.)
This is a not to difficult of a hunt. For your own safety, PLEASE be sure to wear some hunter's orange apparrel if you seek this cache during hunting season, Sept. 15 - March 30. It may be wise not to try this at all during firearm deer season. Open firearm for deer bring the most hunters to the area, Nov. 15 - Nov. 30. Make sure you have fresh batteries for your GPS, there are numerous long trails in these woods. The cache can be partly driven to if you attack it from the West and the DNR has the gate open. However the two track you go down is pretty rough and will definatly leave a few branch scratches on your vehicle. There is a parking area before the gate if you would rather walk it. Alternativley, you may try and find it by hiking from the south near the DNR HQ off of Vernor Rd., around the ponds. I didn't try it this way but it should be possible longer walk though for sure. Maybe a mile or so.
