Français: Entre 1942 et 1945, 130,000 Alsaciens et Mosellans ont été victimes de l'incorporation de force dans l'armée allemande. 40,000 d'entre eux sont morts, la plupart en terre étrangère.
Pour honorer la mémoire de ces 'malgré nous' et sauver de l'oubli le drame qui fut le leur, l'Association Des Evadés Et Incorporés de Force (A.D.E.I.F.) dressa un mémorial: une croix blanche qui domine la vallée d'Obernai.

English: Between 1942 and 1945, 130,000 Alsatians and Mosellans were forced to join the German army. 40,000 of them died, most of them in a foreign country.
To honor the memory of these 'malgré nous' and to ensure that their drama is not forgotten, l'A.D.E.I.F erected a memorial: a white cross which dominates Obernai and its valley.
