Geocache Description:

A cache adjacent to the Evergreen Mobile Home Park, in memory of those who died in the July 1987 tornado.

On July 31, 1987, an F4 tornado ripped through Edmonton. The tornado first touched down south of the city, near Beaumont, before skirting the eastern edge of Edmonton, leaving a path of death and destruction.

The worst damage and loss of life was reserved for the Evergreen Trailer Park. This cache can be found in a forest adjacent to the park. You will notice many stumps and twisted trees here; these are remnants of this powerful storm that destroyed almost 200 homes in this large trailer park. Twenty seven people were killed by the ferocious storm, while more than half of these (15) were residents of this trailer park.

The cache is not a difficult find. However, as you drive through the peaceful alleys of this neighborhood, take a moment to reflect on the raw power of mother nature.
