Non esiste una data certa delle origini di questo Santuario, che
si trova nel territorio comunale della cittadina di Casalmaggiore,
in provincia di Cremona.
Gia nella seconda parte del 800 si parla di un affresco di una
Madonna che allatta il Bambin Gesù e di un pozzo dal quale la gente
andava non solo ad attingere acqua, ma anche a chiedere grazie come
la cura dalle malattie. Alcuni miracoli sono raccontati in
manoscritti anonimi che risalgono alla prima metà del 1600. La
presenza di una cappelletta viene citata da alcuni storici della
città di Casalmaggiore sin dalla fine del XII secolo, riportando al
1463 la data di costruzione della chiesa.
L'importanza del Santuario è data anche dall'alto numero di
famiglie nobili e facoltose che concorrero alla costruzione e
abbellimento del santuario. Nei momenti drammatici, di invasioni di
truppe mercenarie straniere, di carestia, di siccità, peste,
colera, alluvioni del Po, i cittadini hanno trovato nel loro
Santuario della Fontana un riferimento sicuro: la certezza che la
Madonna li avrebbe salvati e protetti. Durante la peste manzoniana
(1630) lo stesso Senato di Milano si rivolse a questo Santuario per
la grazia di liberare Milano dalla peste. Nel corridoio degli
Ex-voto è ancora possibile vedere un quadro votivo che ricorda il
fatto.
L'interno del Santuario merita senza dubbio una visita vista la
ricchezza di affreschi e di opere d'arte. Nella parte bassa della
chiesa è anche possibile notare anche la lapide sepolcrale del
pittore Francesco Mazzola, detto il "Parmigianino", uno dei più
famosi pittori italiani del periodo.
Il cache è una scatola di plastica trasparente,
avvolta in una bustina di plastica con zip. E' stata nascosta
dietro la chiesta in una zona protetta dai mugglers, ma che può
essere scivolosa durante e dopo i giorni di pioggia.

There is no certain date for the origins of this Sanctuary, which
is located in the municipality of Casalmaggiore, in the province of
Cremona.
Even in the second part of the 800 there are words of a fresco of
a "Madonna feeding the Child Jesus" and a well where people went
not only to draw water, but also to ask graces or to optain help
for their diseases. Some miracles are recounted in anonymous
manuscripts dating from the first half of 1600. The presence of a
chapel is cited by some historians of the city of Casalmaggiore
since the end of the XII century. The date of the building of the
Church is reported to be the 1463.
The importance of this Sanctuary can be also verified by the high
number of wealthy and noble families that helped with the
construction and decoration of the Sanctuary. In many dramatic
moments, mercenary invasions of foreign troops, famine, drought,
plague, cholera, floods of the Po, the citizens have found a very
important reference in this Sanctuary: the certainty that the Holy
Mother would have saved and protected them. During the plague in
1630 (sowhat called the "Manzoniana Plague") the Senate of the city
of Milan turned this Sanctuary for the grace to release Milan by
the plague. In the "ex-voto" corridor inside the Sanctuary it is
still possible to see a votive reminiscent of the fact.
The interior of the Sanctuary is undoubtedly worth a visit to view
the wealth of frescoes and artworks. In the lower part of the
Church it is also possible to see the plaque tomb of the painter
Francesco Mazzola, known as "Parmigianino, one of the most famous
Italian painters of that period.
The cache is a plastic box, wrapped into a plastic
zip bag. It has been located behind the church in an area that
should be covered by mugglers but that could a little slippery on
and after rainy days.
