Geocache Description:

sloj.Zprava o nalezu “cerneho zlata” se rychle roznesla a privedla do Necek tri zkusene dulni dozorce z Jiloveho u Prahy – pany Konase, Prusu a Pribika. Ti zacali v okoli s dolovanim. V Neckach v mistech zvanych Za vrchem, zacal dolovat Konas. Dolovani lakalo kde koho. Jenze nakoupit potrebne zarizeni, pumpy na odcerpavani vody a material na vydrevu nebylo nic lacineho. Sedlaci se zadluzili a prisli o veskery svuj majetek. Dolovat take zacal sedlak Prochazka
z Jedomelic. Beyer dvorec v Neckach castecne prestavel a postavil zde take novou obytnou budovu. V roce 1822 se ozenil s Katerinou Michalovcovou. V roce 1829 se jim narodil syn Eduard (zemrel 1871).
A k nemu se prave vaze zajimavy pribeh, ktery uzce souvisi prave se zdejsi kaplickou a sochou sv. Jana Nepomuckeho. 10.6.1834 spadnul Eduard Beyer do jiz zminovane studny.
nechal otec Eduarda vystaviti tuto kapli.

The cache can be hunted in two ways:
A tourist – walking from the parking place at the pub in Libovice (N 50°14.098 E 14°00.975), the cache is about 1.6 km far
An idler – a sort of the drive-in cache – you can drive from Libovice along a dirt track almost to the place

The cache is in the area where there used to be the village of Necky, today perished. The first reference to it is
from the year of 1399. In 18th century there used to be a few cottages and a chapel. The foundations were clear even in the second half of 20th century but today they are overgrown by a new forest. In the very dry years of 1775-76, all three local ponds and a well in Necky dried up. Men from the village decided to deepen the well. They didn´t discover water but they stroke a coal bed, about 70 cm wide. The news of a „black gold“ strike spread quickly and brought three experienced pit foremen from Jílové near Prague to Necky – Mr. Konáš, Prus and Pribík. They started mining. Konášstarted in Necky, at a place called Za vrchem. Mining attracted a lot of people. But the necessary equipment, pumps draining water and material for timbering, wasn´t cheap at all. Peasants fell in debts and lost all their property. Procházka, a peasant from Jedomelice, also started mining, he also fell in debts, turned to his relative František Beyer, a rich burgher, and asked him for a
loan. František Beyer (1782-1864) went to see the mining place, lent him the money and became his partner. He himself bought some more areas and started mining, built brickworks and, from bricks made there, he built a house for himself and for a pit foreman (štajgrhaus) and some cubbies for miners. Štajgrhaus was then, in 1817, changed for a residence with an administrator from Smecno. Beyer partly rebuilt the residence and built a new house for residential purposes. In 1822, he married Katerina Michalovcová. In
1829, their son Eduard was born (died in1871). And there is an interesting story just about him, which is closely linked with the local chapel and statue of St. John of Nepomuk. Eduard Beyer fell into the above mentioned well on 10th June 1834. As written on the plaque, everything turned out well and, as an expression of his gratitude, Eduard´s father let the chapel built. The chapel was consecrated on 27th September 1837 and since then there has been an annual fair around the chapel, always on 16th May, St. John of Nepomuk´s Day. The devastated chapel was reconstructed in the
nineties of 20th century by members of the local hunters´
association and, in 1996, the fair tradition was restored.
