Off The Wall Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the newest park in Vernon, NJ. This area has seen a lot of press before it was finally developed into a great area for the residents to play and hike. The first part of the trip in is on a paved path until you have to leave on a dirt trail where the real fun begins. Cache is located only .3 miles from the parking area. While placing the cache I saw lots of animal signs (bear) and spooked several deer but also brougt home a tick, so take the proper percautions. Parking is available at N41.13.181 W074.29.089 I recommend that you mark you car location in case you decide to continue on the trail after you find this cache. If you do please be advised that the trail will actually lead you away from the parking area unless you know where to bush wack (down the hill through the open field then find a path through the pines) to pick up the correct trail to the parking area. If you have a topo feature on your GPS you can see the correct road to take. If unsure the fastest and safest way back is to return by the way you came. OR.... you can go for a loop quest and record "The Way Out GC14AHZ" which will reveal the trail back to the black top. Once on the black top then go for 'The Bitter End GC14AK1". This will lead you back to in sight of the parking lot. If you do all three the round trip should take you on a 1.6 mile walk around the park.
