Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches in and around the town of Wallingford. The well known crime writer Agatha Christie owned a house in the town and spent her later years there. Each of the caches in this series are named after one of her books.

This cache is linked to the house where Agatha lived – and died. Since the cache was originally placed a blue plaque has been erected. Due to building work at the original GZ the cache has been relocated and reduced in size! The coordinates given are those of Winterbrook House, described by the author as “a delightful small Queen Anne house with gracious windows and good proportions, rather close to the road but with meadows sweeping down to the river.” You will need to visit a nearby information board and look out for other clues too. There is a footpath along the road which is quite busy - all the clues are on (or can be seen from) the same side of the road as the house, but please be careful with young children. The cache is located at N51 35.AB0 W001 07.(C-D)EF At the information board you will see when Agatha and Max moved to the area - the year was 193A . There are also details of her Empire Awards - she received her first in 195B At the house look carefully at the front gate. It has a number of 'arrow-heads' at the top - count them to get C Now look at the Blue Plaque - whilst most words are horizontal some are not - count them up and that is D. On the way to the house is a property on the opposite side; work out the number of degrees on the compass suggested by its name then subtract the first digit from the second digit to get a new number - that is E Back at the house, look at the blue plaque – it states that Agatha lived here 1934-7F. The cache – which is a magnetic keylok box – is close by. If you wish to visit Agatha's grave the look out for GC149B5 "Death comes as the End"
