The Silver Moccasin Trail is a 53 mile point-to-point trail established in the early 1940s by the Los Angeles Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts may earn a special Silver Moccasins award for completing the hike. The trail starts at Chantry Flats, above Arcadia, crosses the Angeles Crest Highway several times, and terminates at Vincent Gap after summiting at Mount Baden-Powell (named in honor of Lord Robert Baden-Powell the founder of the Scouting movement).
This cache is located approximately halfway from Horse Flats campground to Angeles Crest Highway -- only about 0.2 mile from either. (At least according to the trail signs at the Horse Flats end. I think it might actually be closer to that end than to the ACH end.)
