Geocache Description:

Medicine Mountain is the tallest point in the USGS quadrangle map where I live. So naturally I had to climb it.

I approached from Medicine Mountain Rd at the coordinates below but I’m thinking it is also accessible from the other side near the Boy Scout Camp. They travel up here a lot so you never know who you will meet at the top. I found remnants of a recent camp up near the top on my trip so I knew they were there recently. Fresh elk dropping were also evident so be on the lookout for them.

The cache is actually on the lesser of two summits at the top about 500’ apart. It seemed safer over here. It is an ammo can under a big rock about the size of a beanbag chair. You will have to move a couple of smaller rocks that hide it from view.

Do take the time to venture across the saddle over to the real summit directly to the south of the cache because the view of Harney Peak and the Spires is more unobstructed.
Many of the other peaks around are quite visible from up here. This includes the nearby Odakota Mountain, Copper Mountain and Bear Mountain. You can drive nearly to the top of all those!
