This cache is at the top of Santiam Pass near Big Lake. It is located at approximately 4870 feet elevation and involves off-trail hiking.
The cache container is clear plastic. When we were searching for the perfect place to hide it, we nearly stepped on a spotted fawn that was nestled on the ground, in plain sight but so well camouflaged that we didn't see it until it jumped up and ran away. Enjoy the views of the surrounding mountians, including Mt. Washington and Three Fingered Jack.
