The Sherman Pass Jeep 4X4 trail is one of only two Jeep trails within this area (the other being the Monache Meadows area). It is about 7 miles long and a more aggressive trail with Jeep trail ratings from class II up to sections of class IV. An easy one day run, but why not enjoy a night camping along the way? A great link to the Gear Grinders 4WD Club web site page on the trail. http://geargrinders4wdclub.org/sherman.php
Two trailheads to The Sherman Pass Jeep 4X4 trail start along the Sherman Pass Road (paved road) This cache is placed at North Meadow Road Trailhead (FS 33E29) which is the eastern most of the two. This cache is easily obtained by anyone, even without a four wheel drive. Just park near the trailhead and walk up the jeep trail a very short distance. For those that are heading on up the trial, lock in the hubs and drop it into the lowest gear you have and enjoy the easy but steep climb on up. This was one of my favorite trails to do at night - the view of the stars through the windshield as you drive up the trail is always the best (yes it is that steep of a trail)
You are looking for a cache stuffed with swag. A “Signal the Frog First to Find pin” and a GPS sticker in with the log for the person who claims the “First To Find”.
CONGRATS to “Thunder-4”, “Devhead” & "ThePolarBear" for FTF!!! WOOT!!!
