Wendel Cassel is the Friends of White Clay Creek State Park project leader for building trails. Wendel learned how to build trails in 2001 by volunteering with the Delaware trail crew and began building trails on his own with the help of other volunteers in 2003. Two beautiful trails, the Charles Bailey trail and the Boundary Line trail in the White Clay Creek park/preserve were built under his guidance. Wendel is also responsible for the wonderful bridge connecting White Clay Creek State Park with the Middle Run Natural Area. We are all fortunate to enjoy the fruits of Wendel's labor and I wanted to make a cache to honor him.
This cache has been placed along a trail that Wendel is currently building with other Friends volunteers in the White Clay Creek Preserve. Please stay on the trail until you get close to the cache so that the natural beauty of the area is preserved. Enjoy the view!
Suggested parking is in the lot at the end of Yeatman's Mill Road. From there, take the Charles Bailey trail to the old Railroad bridge abutment ruins. Happy hunting!
Also don't forget to get MikeOtt's CITO cache that is along the trail a little farther up!
