There are many mysterious things in the Whitemud Ravine. When
alone in the ravine, have you ever felt like you were being
watched, only to turn around and see no one? It might have been
Harry!
You may have visited
Walter. You may have discovered his secret cache and believed
that you were finished with his kind. But do you really believe
that there could only be one of his kind in that vast ravine? Could
it really be that
Walter is alone? No, it cannot be! There is another. His
name is Harry. Harry is like Walter in that this is his ravine. He
is old and has seen many things; few people have seen Harry. You,
the select few, the geocachers, are invited to meet Harry. You will
be richly rewarded for your efforts. Harry's domain is a beautiful
area of the ravine that sees few visitors. There are great views so
you should bring your camera. There may be many ways to reach
Harry, but I suggest that you begin your search in the new district
of the Uplands south of 23rd Avenue. The actual street didn't have
a name when I was there but your GPS should bring you fairly close.
A paved walking path will take you to within 100 meters of Harry.
Bushwhacking is likely necessary thereafter. Shorts are not
recommended due to prickly bushes. Note, the above coordinates take
you to the cache which should be easy to find (except in winter).
However before you can log this find, you must find Harry. He is
very, very close to the cache. Instructions to find Harry are in
the cache. If you can find the cache, you can find Harry. Note to
winter cachers. In the winter it is acceptable to treat this as a
micro and just find Harry. He is about 10 meters from the cache and
the snow will not be a problem.
