Celebrate at China Grove Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ChinaTrekker: Checked on this one and couldn't find the cache - I think it's probably buried in debris from the fallen tree. Hate to see it go, as this was the first cache I ever hid. Thanks to all who searched for/found it.

Geocache Description:

Near the Celebration Tree Grove at White Rock Lake. Park in the small parking lot on the corner of Poppy Drive and E. Lawther and follow the path through the grove to the cache. Don't leave the path too soon or it's PI city! If you approach on foot from Doctors Hospital, you're in for a nasty bushwhack.

I first adopted the name ChinaTrekker in 1985 after returning from an extended trip to the People's Republic of China. I have been fascinated by all things Chinese ever since, so I decided to hide some caches with "China" or "Chinese" in their names. This is the first.

Chinese culture is one of the world's most ancient, but the Celebration Tree Grove at White Rock Lake is brand new! In fact, construction has not been completed at the time this cache is being placed. Eventually it will feature a path which wanders through a grove of newly-planted specimen trees, and a relaxing patio area with benches on which to sit and contemplate the surrounding beauty. Such a grove in China might possibly contain a scholar tree (symbol of good fortune, joy and well-being) or an oriental cypress (symbolizing the courage and strength of the Chinese people), both of which have been named as official trees of the city of Beijing. Specimens believed to date back over 1,000 years can be found in Zhongshang Park, Beihai Park, and near the Broken Bridge in the Forbidden City. Source: www.china.org, Official Trees and Flowers.

But what about the cache? Ah, yes…..not far from the path, just a few feet of light bushwhacking if you take the correct approach. PI started growing in the Spring, so be careful. Remember, this is Texas, so, as always, watch for creepy-crawlers. Cache is a camoed pill bottle. Best way to get to the log is to remove the cap, while leaving the bottle attached to its surrounding camo . Log only, BYOP. Probably room for very tiny trade items only.

CONGRATULATIONS TO GEOMANTX FOR FTF!
