Geocache Description:

This is NOT a night cache. Cache is located in the parkland adjacent to the VITP facility. This cache was hidden as part of the 3rd Vancouver Island Hide-&-Go Cache.

Over the rise to the SE is the VITP. From the late 1960's to the mid 1980’s the two story building was the main laundry facility for the southern Island hospitals. A fire gutted the building in the mid 80's and in 1990 it was refurbished to house the Provincial Reprographics and Air Photo Reproduction Labs. The large building on the other side was the Glendale Hospital which was shut down in the mid 1990’s. Two movies were filmed here during the 10 years it was empty. Over the last few years this building has also undergone a transformation and now is known as “The Vancouver Island Technology Park”; it was the first project in Canada to achieve certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED™) Rating System. This LEED’s Gold award is only one of many recognitions this facility has received.
