Thanks to martletsman for letting me set this one in his series.
This series is thanks to Dick and Jan (Saltdean Seekers) as it was
thier Walkabout series ( click here for details) that spawned the
idea.
How many times when out walking or cacheing have we come across a
pond or Dew pond that seems to be asking to become a Cache?.
So armed with pre-prepared micro, it is easy, see site, hide micro,
record co-ordinates, get home and enter listing details.
This series will consist of a mixture of:-
caches in their own right
Caches situated on the way to other caches
cache and dash types.
In many cases you can decide which type you want it to be, and may
want to look at your maps to decide before setting off.
#6 Lindfield Pond.
Set in the middle of the picturesque village of Lindfield the pond
is a least 200 years old.
It was used at one time by carriages on the long London to Brighton
route for cooling down there brakes.
Being sloped at either end the coaches drove into the water and out
the other side. The pond is now the home of some very large fish ,
swans and ducks all of whom enjoy eating the bread thrown to them
by the many visitors.
Opposite is the White Horse pub where you might be tempted to stop
for a well earned drink.
