Geocache Description:



Nahal Taninim

The english meaning is alligators stream and is a nice, peaceful place north to Caesarea and 10-15 minutes driving from there. Although the name of the place is alligators stream the last alligator was seen here in 1907. You should pay something like 18 nis to enter the place and a visit is between 1-2 hours.

A water retaining structure was built by the Romans there, which supplied the city Caesarea lain somewhat more south with water. After excavations and reconstructions it is now accessible to the public. A not finished water pipeline (by which one can run) is interesting and a quarry, where also the water pipes for the water supply were manufactured. With guidance the function of the plant and their water use for corn mills is explained.

In the park there is in addition three moving straining: 1. along the water water retaining structure, 2. along the river up to the delta in the sea and 3. a short distance accessible for wheelchair users. The approach road been made by the road 4, one must with the crossing prays Hananiah (or Jasser A-Sarka) left to bend. Then still the motorway 2 cross and right to the parking lot bend.

08:00 – 16:00, Saturdays through Thursday
08:00 – 15:00, Fridays and holiday eves
