Log the Mars Perseverance trackable to earn a new souvenir
You can now log the first interplanetary trackable and earn a new souvenir! The Mars Perseverance Rover has successfully calibrated its WATSON camera, taking a photo of the tracking code and sending it back to earth. Look for the code in the image to log the trackable that just touched down on Mars!
How do I log this trackable if I’m not also going to Mars?
If you’re not blasting off anytime soon, don’t worry. You can still discover the Mars Rover trackable. The tracking code is on the WATSON camera’s calibration target. After Perseverance lands on Mars, that camera will take a picture of the tracking code itself and send that picture back to Earth. You can log the Rover by finding the code in that picture.
Look for the image here. Can you find it? Be sure to filter for pictures taken by SHERLOC & WATSON.
Please note that Geocaching HQ is giving explicit permission as the owner to log this trackable virtually.
