Starting today, all players can see highly Favorited caches at a glance in the Geocaching® app. With this feature on, the community’s most exciting and innovative caches are highlighted by their Favorite point total above their cache icon on the map. To commemorate the occasion, we’re awarding Premium members with 10 Favorite points to give away.
Back in October 2022, we rolled out highly Favorited caches to some players, and couldn’t be more excited to release this experience to the greater geocaching community! But we don’t want to leave those already familiar with the experience without a treat, so in celebration of the release all Premium members will receive 10 extra Favorite points to give away to innovative, puzzling, and exciting caches as they see fit!
Furthermore, to recognize that there wouldn’t be caches to find and give Favorite points to without our community’s ingenious hiders, all Premium members who own a cache themselves, will receive 20 extra Favorite points, as a small token of our eternal gratitude for making the game we love possible! For the purposes of this giveaway, we define owning a geocache as at least one published and active geocache, excluding Adventure Labs and Events.
The introduction of highly Favorited caches is part of our continued efforts here at HQ to refresh and revitalize the game board year over year, and highlight the amazing contributions of geocachers around the world! But remember: while they can be added whenever online, Favorite points can only be given while logging your chosen cache as ‘Found’ in the official Geocaching® app*.
*For Premium members on iOS, you can toggle “Add/remove Favorite points” in the Experimental features menu, allowing you to give (or take away) Favorite points by tapping the green heart icon on the cache details screen.
Furthermore, if highly Favorited caching experiences don’t interest you, you can always toggle this feature on and off in your map settings.
