Gifted to the city in 1936 and currently maintained by New Plymouth District Council, Burgess Park is a scenic reserve consisting of one hectare of grounds and 4 hectares of native bush.
In a lovely riverside setting, there is a short 15 minute walkway that takes you past the original Hapurunui Pa site from where you can enjoy stunning views of the Waiwhakaiho River. The park is also popular with families enjoying a spot of fresh air at the weekends.
Originally housing the historic Burgess House, the building was recently purchased and moved to another location.
