Sturt’s Track runs around a little unnamed lake at the bottom of the Gawler Ranges National Park. If you follow the track, you can either circumnavigate the lake (takes about an hour), or link into the Old Paney Scenic Route.
If taking the scenic route, note that it only runs south to north and is closed during the fire ban season.
Entry is along a sand track from Barnes Road, at S32° 49.063 E135° 28.813.
Cache is about 400 metres from this track.
NOTE: There is NO PHONE reception in the park. There are also NO SERVICES available in the park and water is scarce, so you must provide for your own needs for the full duration of your visit. This includes (but not limited to) adequate food, water, fuel and other needs. As this track is less used than the other tracks throughout the park, help could be a long wait.
