As many would be aware, SA is holding the Oz Mega 2014 but where is it going to be. This series will highlight some towns in SA that may or maybe not the location for the 2014 Oz Mega.
Keith is a small farming town in the south-east of South Australia. It is approximately 225 km from Adelaide at the junction of the Dukes Highway and the Riddoch Highway.
It is sometimes referred to as the 'lucerne capital of Australia' due to the high number of lucerne growers in the region.
In the early days, a railway siding was established on the Adelaide line near Mt Monster to serve the pastoral leases that had been taken up in the surrounding district during the 1850's.
The Keith district typifies "real Australian countryside". Today the township services a diverse agricultural area.
