The cache is 10 minutes along the Heaphy Track, it is a 100ml pill container with log and pencil.
The Heaphy Track is one of NZ's Great Walks and starts from Kohaihai, at the end on the road. At the Kohaihai Picnic area you can see where the river meets the ocean, it's a lovely camping spot. You can go for a dip in the river, its a bit cold but very refreshing. Make sure you have your insect repellant handy as there are lots of sandflies.
Just over the bridge is the Nikau Palm Walk, is a short loop track which takes you through the Nikau groves.
Continue along the Heaphy Track for about 25 minutes to Scotts Hill Lookout, is a lovely a view of the beautiful stretch of coastal scenery.
