Chiltern old Cemetery opened for use in 1860. This is the site of Chiltern's second public cemetery. This site of 10 acres was the cause of many complaints from the residents because they considered it too far from the town, too wet and swampy and unfit for burials, and the graves were haphazardly arranged. Animals were able to roam around the grave because the Cemetery Trust had not constructed a fence around the perimeter. Over 1000 people are believed to be buried here. The Cemetery closed in 1881 when the Chiltern New Cemetery opened.
Please be respectful when looking for this cache, it is not on any grave. The cache is a small 250ml container. There are no swaps in there, but you can stick a couple of small ones in there if you like. The cache contains a logbook, pencil and sharpener.
