A series of caches that can be accessed from the cycle path that runs along side the Kwinana freeway between Mundijong Road and Karnup Road.Under no circumstance should these be accessed from the freeway.
We planned these caches on my daughters 10th Birthday She was given a new bike and of course wanted to go out for a ride, we left our house and headed down Zig Zag Road, turned right and started to head down the cycle track. We kept on going everybody was fine and having a great time (including the 7 year old). We went past Safety Bay Road Interchange (I have seen a few small tiger snakes sun baking on the cycle path here) and kept on pedalling.
We got to the Karnup Road interchange, look out for the emus in the paddock, where our 7-year-old daughter said don’t forget we have to cycle back! So back we went (into the wind) looking, counting and planning our cache hides! Two and a half hours after leaving home we made it back and she didn’t go on her new bike for a week!
The Kwinana Freeway extension, from Safety Bay Road, via the Forest Highway, to Bunbury was opened on the 20th September 2009. This series of caches are hidden along a 10km stretch of the freeway including a 5km stretch of the new part between Safety Bay Road and Karnup Road interchanges.
There are various additional access points for those who do not wish to do the 20km round trip. We would recommend parking at one of these access points rather than near one of the major interchanges - Zig Zag Road, Serpentine Road and Sixty Eight Road.
These caches are either magnetic nanos, mint-tins (magnetic and/or camouflaged) or 200ml sistema clip-locks (suitable for geocoins and bugs) some are well camouflaged others should be very obvious. Please bring your own writing implements.
