Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Geocaching in Australia. It is a combination of Mystery and Multi Cache.

First you will have to do some internet research, then visit Riverway for some counting. Next you will have to do some basic calculations to find out where GZ is.

The listed coordinates will take you to the All Abilities Playground at Riverway. If you, like me, feel uncomfortable searching around a playground, since you don't have kids as "cover", don't worry, you don't have to enter the playground. All the counting can be done from the outside while you are admiring all the different things on offer for the kids.

But first there is some homework to be done. The list below shows the oldest (at time of listing this cache) still active physical caches for each state.

Find out their GC code and add up all the digits in each of them (ie. GCGBAV=0 / GC1RCY6=7).

a - VIC: "Melbourne's 1st" hidden 08.10.2000 by George

b - QLD: "Queens land" hidden 17.10.2000 by Maureen and Brian

c - NSW: "Sydney Geocache Relocated!" hidden 11.11.2000 by Peter Stewart

d - SA: "Riverland Geocache" hidden 01.01.2001 by Sam Morgan

e - TA: "North Tassie" hidden 25.02.2001 by Jerry Medlin

f - WA: "Albany Quarantine" hidden 27.03.2001 by Lyn Pat and Nathan

g - ACT: "Canberra Nature Park" hidden 15.04.2001 by Helen & Jock

h - NT: "Sungroper 4" hidden 22.11.2001 by Sungroper Team

Now it's off to the playground for the counting (concentration is needed, read the questions carefully).

* WP1 * (listed coordinates)

i - How many purple/white poles are there altogether?

j - How many of the poles have one thick and three thin white bands?

k - How many poles do have one thin and two thick white bands?

l - Hown many thin white bands are on the pole with the letter "V"?

m - How many thin white bands are on the pole with the letter "H"?

* WP2 *

n - How many dark green segments are in the circle on the ground just inside the gate?

* WP3 *

o - How many raised hexagonal sandpits do you see?

* WP4 *

p - How many red poles do you count?

* WP5 *

q - How many turtles are there on the walls to the left and right of the purple gate?

r - How many dragon flies are there on both walls?

s - How many large wooden posts do you see?

* WP7 *

t - How many binoculars can you find on the treehouse/wooden fortress?

* * * * * * * * * *

Ok, now that you have all those numbers you should find a quiet place to sit down and do the calculations.

A = c times p minus r

B = e minus q

C = b minus k

D = g plus s minus j

E = d times n minus i

F = f divided by t

G = h divided by m minus l

H = a minus o

* * * * * * * * * *

Wasn't too bad, was it? Now all that's left is to replace the letters with the corresponding numbers and off you go. GZ is within easy walking distance.

GZ:
S 1A* BA.BCD
E 146* EG.AEH

Cache is a 1l Sistema container, painted black.
Contents at time of placement: logbook, stashnote, pen, swap items and FTF prize.

Check your numbers: H + D = A and G + E = D and B + C = F and A - F = G

* * * * * * * * * *

This listing has been on The GCA site before (for the 10th anniversary), so it already has been found.
Congratulations on the FTF go to "big dazza" who managed to find it even though I had a typing and a calculation error in it!
