Geocache Description:

A micro at a gated access point to Bear Creek Open Space Preserve.

I'm not sure when the Open Space gained control of these Bear Creek Open Space Preserve properties, but I do know that I've always been quite curious about what was along this now-gated access road off of southbound Highway 17, especially after I started commuting between Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County regularly beginning October 1984.

Accessing this micro directly from nearby southbound Highway 17 is possible and does not require an access permit and would deserve a terrain rating of 1. But be warned that parking on Highway 17 may earn you a ticket from the CHP.

I strongly recommend getting an access permit from the Bear Creek Open Space Preserve management and exploring the Preserve!

Permits and further information may be easily obtained by calling the District office at (650) 691-1200 during regular business hours. (Ask for Leslie.)

Enjoy! And happy caching!

P.S. I placed this cache after successfully seeking a nearby spyder_woman cache.
