Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. Only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ can unarchive caches. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if the cache meets the current geocaching guidelines.

If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

During the depression people went to all sorts of lengths to survive and devised different means of shelter and dwellings.

I’ve been told by some of the “old timers” of this area, that during the depression “a bloke” lived here near the river supposedly living off the land and what the River Murray could provide till the great depression ended.

He created this unique home for himself with his bare hands, skills and hard labour.
Surprisingly very few people, locals included know of its existence or whereabouts (probably a good thing!)

I haven’t been able to confirm “the story” or whether it’s a local myth but the unique “home” actually exists and still remains today in good condition.
I would like to know more if anyone has any information…

It’s well hidden and unable to be seen from the river and can be missed even when walking close to the front door, I wouldn’t be surprised if “possum” didn’t use this as a camp from time to time in his travels up and down the river.

When heading for GZ off the bitumen road be careful of the cliff edge!!!
Approx 100 meters North of GZ there is an easy access path through a break in the cliffs down to the river flat. Then follow the faint track along the cliff base.

PLEASE make certain that the cache is WELL camouflaged again when replaced!.
